Learn More About Cypress Lumber

Timeless in both beauty and durability, cypress lumber is used for all types of residential and commercial applications. Cypress is a softwood growing throughout the southeast United States and is a treasured and protected resource. Acadian respects our natural resources and actively engages in the preservation of cypress and other important woods, which are harvested worldwide.

Southeast Louisiana’s diverse ecosystem, though fragile, is vibrant and fertile and is considered the goldmine of the Cypress forest industry. The delta of the mighty Mississippi River feeds Louisiana’s unparalleled wildlife and the immense forest covering it’s swamps. Historically, yearly flooding has flushed water through the swamps, producing new life and aiding in the distribution of nutrients. Past water diversions and attempts to control the yearly flooding have left dead timber, poisoned by the saltwater backwash from the gulf, standing as natural landmarks and reminders. Reminders that though erosion control is still an issue today, our state legislators are preparing new ways to protect our resources and make them stronger for future generations.
